Open Show
Saturday
18th March
Judge: Mrs
S Thomson (Ashgate)
I started in dogs at Ryslip
Kennels in 1962 trained by the Cartledge’s, Barbara Sedorski and Jane Miller. On
my 21st birthday I was given a WFT named Wyrecroft Sea Maid.I stayed with the
wires for about 5 generations till I married Andrew in 1966 and we began with
the Westies when we moved down to Somerset. There are many Ashgate Westies
around the world. The most famous being Sinclair for the quality he sired and
Pilgrim for his showmanship gaining several titles abroad as well as G.B.I have
been influenced by my early training so from time to time there has been the odd
“black sheep” around the property. My most successful has been Ir. Ch.
Lomondview Half a Sixpence. She has also been successful in the nursery her
first two boys have won in New Zealand with Maureen Murphy and also in Holland.
The last litter has produced an American Ch. Sons in Germany and France are also
doing well. There is also a German and Hungarian champion from an Olton bitch I
had before. I thoroughly enjoyed judging the show on 18th March for the STC
(England). There was a pleasant atmosphere and my decisions were taken in an
amiable fashion. I was well pleased with my principal winners. However I was
surprised by a few very gay tails which do take away from the overall picture.
BIS Mr & Mrs Platt's
Tamzin Consort, a strong masculine dog well put
together, in hard dense jacket.
Res BIS Mrs Smereka`s
Finlock Haidee at
Alistfjo, a promising junior bitch oozing with quality I hope she has a
successful future.
BP. Mrs P. Pagram`s
Torcraig With A Difference, a
lovely strong male just 8 months very compact with a lot of substance, he
covered the ground well. A really rich coloured Wheaten in perfect coat.

Championship Show
Sunday 2nd July
Judge: Mr David Guy (Donzeata)

David's involvement in the 'Dog Show World' began in 1970 starting with a German Shepherd. His affix 'DONZEATA' was granted in the late 70's, Schipperke's were his principal breed, in which he made up two Champions. One of these being awarded 16 CC's the other becoming the youngest 'Breed Champion' at the tender age of just 13 months. David's involvement with Scottish Terriers comes through being closely associated with Stuart Plane's 'Stuane Scotties'. His judging career within the breed started in 1988 when he was invited to judge classes at Alton. His first appointment awarding Challenge Certificates to Scotties came at Birmingham National in 1994. The same year David acquired his first Griffon, and it is within this breed that he has had major success. To date there have been 10 Champions including two separate 'Group Winners' who, remarkably, were father and son, the father being the first 'smooth' to win a group for over 30 years. There has also been a further Griffon Champion, bred by David, but campaigned to its title by another exhibitor. David drew a super entry of 106 dogs making 135 entries.
