BREED COUNCIL FUNCTION

The Breed Council was set up to provide a united voice from all breed clubs. The Rules and Regulations are available from the Secretary and are published in year books so I will not repeat them here.

The breed council is a bridge between the Kennel Club and its member breed clubs. In essence the Secretary contacts each Club and gives adequate time for discussion at committee level, decisions made here, are returned to our Secretary who passes on the collective decision to the Kennel Club

The AGM is held at National Terrier each year where Clubs are able to send up to two delegates. The delegates have the views/votes for the Club, discussion cannot take place and so the AGM usually is a quick affair. The AGM is not a secret meeting, anyone can attend but opinions/views must be those of the Club and not of individuals.

The Breed Council organises training days and seminars to promote Scottish Terriers and inform/educate. Examinations do take place and a panel of senior people in the breed take part in the marking, and awarding of passes. Judging list criteria, promotions from one list to another are voted on at Club level and the majority decision carried.
