Championship Show 20 July 2024, judge David Guy
I was very grateful to be given the opportunity to judges this prestigious show for the second time, the last being 2006. Numerically it was a good entry and gave a representation of the breed. Many thanks to the exhibitors for their support which I greatly appreciated.
A huge thank you to my two efficient stewards who kept the pace flowing throughout the day, managing the ring without intruding in anyway.
Minor Puppy Dog
1st Chatterdale Star Eclipse
A well developed almost 9 mths black dog, well off for bone, good rib and body, masculine head, dark eye, well sprung rib, coat of good texture and well presented. He moved out well making the most of himself and using the ring to advantage. Best Dog Puppy & Best Puppy In Show.
2nd Dividell Mighty Quinn
This back dog is short backed and balanced throughout, well balanced head, decent bone, well ribbed body not the front of the winner. He moved out well and retained a good outline in profile.
3rd Honeypaws Mister Sandman
Puppy Dog
1st Dividell Mighty Quinn
Junior Dog
1st Powered By Dominoscots ((ATC
18 mths black dog, very good front assembly, good legs and feet, good bone, well ribbed body, coat in super order and of good texture. Strong masculine head but it could be a touch cleaner in backsull. Good over the neck and shoulder, he was true coming and going and displayed a good length of stride in profile holding his topline, good drive from the rear.
2nd Millingford Blue Thunder
Another well balanced back of good breed type, powerful head, strong neck, not quite the layback of shoulder of the first. Well boned legs and feet, strong solid body. Carried himself well but not as settled on the move as the first.
3rd Eimahans Phantom Menace of Pepilarue
Yearling Dog
1st Evingbriar War of The Roses
18 mths black and maturing nicely, balanced head, sufficient bone, well ribbed body, good topline. Strode out well on the move retaining his topline, could be a touch stronger behind, well set and carried tail. Coat of good texture that was well prepared, handled to get the best from him.
Novice Dog
1st Eimahans Phantom Menace of Pepilarue
12 mths black who is well developed all through and no mistaking his sex. Carried a good body, well sprung ribs, coat of good texture and presented in good order. He was accurate coming and going and this carried him through to first place.
2nd Dividell Mighty Quinn
Post Graduate Dog
1st Tahgmor Take Initiative
The heavy boned boy is good to go over, well balanced masculine head, true front, good legs and feet, well ribbed body and powerful hindquarters. He would benefit from a tighter trim which would show off his make and shape. Moved out well.
2nd Queens Legacy At Kierview
This boy was presented in super coat and condition, balanced head, would prefer a deeper set eye which would enhance the expression. Good bone and body, not as compact as the first, he gave a good account of himself on the move.
Limit Dog
1st Filisite Brash Rare Treasure At Lochgems (Imp LTU)
A black dog of true breed type, long clean head with a keen expression super front construction with good width, straight front legs and tight elbows. Decent legs and feet, coat of good texture which was in good order. He is assertive in the ring and can be difficult to settle on the move but once he settled to the job in hand, he was true coming and going, held his topline at all times. Pleased to award him the CC and Best Opposite Sex.
2nd Divadells Charging Bear
This brindle dog is well balanced throughout, good front, well boned legs and feet, expressive head, ear placement could be better, strong neck and clean over the shoulder. He was accurate coming and going and held his topline.
3rd Tahgmor Take Initiative
Open Dog
1st Fr/Lu/Hr Ch Power Ranger Dominoscots JCH (ATC)
This black dog commended my attention as he entered the ring, very short backed and of true breed type. Strong and solid best describe him. Good legs and feet, true front, strong well ribbed body, masculine head, coat of good texture, well-muscled hindquarters. He was accurate on the move in this class and retained his outline. In the challenge at times, he lost his crisp outline when standing. Nevertheless, a quality boy.
2nd Ch/AmCh Trakside Gabriel Oak (TAF)
This quality brindle is no stranger to me and I have long admired him. He looks at you correctly, clean head, decent neck and shoulder, well prepared coat, held his topline on the move, he moved well coming and going Today I just preferred the more compact body properties of the winner.
3rd Berrybreeze Magical Spirit
Veteran Dog
1st Ch Versascott Jumpin Jack Flash (ATC)
This 11 years dog impressed me today, quality head with well set and used ears and a dark eye. Good bone, good over the neck and shoulder which put him ahead in this class, well ribbed body, despite his age he was firm in topline standing and on the move. He was accurate coming and going, every time I looked at him his sheer breed type shone through. In the challenge he was very assertive and free moving which carried him through to the Res CC in good company. Best Veteran In Show.
2nd Ch Millingford Hudson
Another quality dog aged 7 years, not disgraced to stand second, balanced all through, quality head, true breed type, good legs and feet. Maybe carrying a little too much weight and coat today which spoilt the picture over the neck and shoulder, super rib, good bone. Moved out well coming and going.
Special Triers Bitch
1st Russalan Rosenda Rose
This smart girl gave a good account of herself to win this class, big rib, well boned front, decent neck, strong hindquarters but could do with a touch more angulation. Was sound on the move front and back but needs more drive from the rear. Coat presented in good order.
2nd Eimahans A New Hope
Balanced bitch but not as compact as the winner being a shade longer, sufficient bone, coat of good texture, expressive head but would benefit from a deeper set eye. Used her ears to advantage and was enthusiastic on the move.
3rd Skircoat Semibreve At Tahgmor
Minor Puppy Bitch
1st Glengracie She Will Rock You
This 7 mths wheaten is of good breed type, she appealed for her well slung body, big rib and good bone. Appealing in head with a dark eye which enhanced the expression. Well boned front, typical on the move and was true coming and going. Best bitch Puppy.
2nd Divadell Harleyquinn
This 8 mths black is also well off for body and has good ribs, balanced head, coat coming along nicely, she pulls herself together well and gives a good picture. She moved ok coming towards but didn’t have the drive from the rear of the first.
3rd Honeypaws Shake it Off
Puppy Bitch
1st Divadell Harleyquinn
Junior Bitch
1st Millingford Out of The Blue
Again of good breed type, heavy body and good rib, feminine head, decent front, good bone, legs and feet. Coat in good order, she held herself well on the move and was true coming and going, maybe could have a touch more rear angulation. Well set and carried tail.
2nd Perhaps Special Edition At Verascott(ATC)
Good outline standing and, on the move, quality head with a lovely dark eye giving a good expression, adequate bone for size, coat of good texture, needs to develop in rib and carry a touch more body which is what held her back. On the move she strode out well and was true coming and going.
3rd Eimahans A New Hope
Yearling Bitch
1st Perhaps Special Edition At Verascott(ATC)
2nd Rilynson Hi Time Gal
12 mths and full of herself, short backed, balanced head, I would prefer more bone, sufficient body, held herself well on the move and was positive out and back, could do with a touch more rear angulation. She was presented in good coat of the correct texture. She certainly presents herself well, displaying great character and showmanship.
Novice Bitch
1st Perhaps Special Edition At Verascott(ATC
2nd Divadell Harleyquinn
3rd Charlimae Funshine Jovi Of Bonnyess
Post Graduate Bitch
1st Berrybreeze Spirit Guide At McKalay
A well balanced bitch who is good to go over, keen alert expression, decent front, adequate bone, good topline and tailset. Not the best of showgirls but she put in enough to win this class. Moved true coming and going and coat was in good order. I preferred her size.
2nd Magsonbay Royal Edition at Glenmiar
This quality headed girl is a size larger than the first, again good to go over, true front, good bone, legs and feet. Huge body and rib, sufficient rear angulation, she moved out well coming and going I just preferred the size of the first, however she is of super breed type.
3rd Millingford Bluebell
Limit Bitch
1st Brueik Olivias Star Maker
This quality headed black appealed for her overall balance and good breed type. True, well boned front, good rib and a deep slung body. Good hindquarters and a well-set tail which she carried to advantage. She was presented in first class order in a tight-fitting jacket. Moved out with purpose and style. Pleased to award her Res CC and Reserve Best In Show.
2nd Russalan Martha Rose JW
Another quality girl who gave a good account of herself, balanced head would prefer a slightly darker eye. Sufficient bone, good rib and body, I preferred the front of the first. She was accurate coming and going and held her outline in profile. Presented in good coat and condition.
3rd Whitwitch No Mercy
Open Bitch
1st Ch Verascott Pearl Queen (ATC)
For me this was the star of the show, a quality Scottish Terrier all through. Super body properties, short backed, good rib and a deep slung body. Well set and carried tail. Good angulation front and back, good bone, legs and feet. She is a very keen alert show girl who free stands giving a true outline. On the move she had great deportment and style, free moving coming and going and presented a super outline in profile. Pleased to award her the CC and BIS.
2nd Quaint Sabayon (Imp Fin)
This mature black was presented in tip top condition and handled to get the best from her. Decent front, legs and feet, balanced head, not the quality head of the winner. Good rib, deep body, adequate rear angulation. Retained her outline standing and on the move. Moved true out and back and strode out well in profile.
3rd Eimahans Leap Of Faith
Veteran Bitch
1st Liroda Midnight Kiss At Evingbriar
This black was presented in sparkling form, her coat was gleaming, and her body condition was remarkable for 9 years old. Balanced head, straight front, adequate bone for size, firm topline which she retained standing and on the move. True coming and going and and carried herself well in profile.
2nd Orrscot Mod De Baliol With Russalan
Short backed, good body, decent bone, could have more width in front. Balanced head, good topline, moved ok but not the freedom or drive of the first. Coat of good texture.
3rd Glengracie Miss Mercury of Pepilarue
