With thanks to Clair Chapman for doing the photos.
In my Scottie handling days the Scottish Terrier Club was always the show that everyone wanted to win at, or an invite to judge at. I canâ€t tell you the thrill l got when l was invited to judge the clubs Championship Show and to receive such a super entry. Most of the exhibitors and breeders, when l was around, are sadly gone now, but it would appear that the new generation are doing quite a nice job. There was a super atmosphere throughout the day, and l thoroughly enjoyed being back again with this lovely breed. It brought back a lot of good memories for me.
Again thank you to the committee for their kind invite and thank you for the super judges gift, I did enjoy it!!
Bitch CC and BIS. Ch. Chatterdale Catch A Star.
Dog CC and BOS. Ch. Chatterdale Star Eclipse.
Best Puppy. Berrybreeze Wisdom.
Best Veteran. Quaint Sabayon (Imp Fin)
Sp Triers Dog 3 (1 abs)
1. Greenwoods. Petmon Royal Ruffian JW
A short and compact dog, ok in neck and shoulder, nice in head and expression, excellent coat texture which was nicely presented. Topline could be a little better standing but was ok on the move.
2. Hughes. Trimscot Idris Elba.
Slightly longer cast than my winner, but pleasing in head and expression, clean in backskull, nice small ears which he could have used better on the day. Nicely presented and with an excellent coat texture. Moved quite nicely.
Min Puppy Dog 1.
1. Ashworths, Lochgems Sole Sensation For Naviba
7 mths old and moved full of confidence. His head is well balanced, clean in backskull. nice shaped giving that typical expression. Very good in front both standing and moving, his topline is good. just needs to shorten a touch but he has time on his side and Iâ€m sure that will happen.
Puppy Dog 2, (1 abs)
1. Maidement. Berrybreeze Wisdom.
A very striking dog of 11 mths old, he is very short and compact, as yet needs a bit more rib but will come with maturity Iâ€m sure, He has a good neck and shoulder. He has a masculine head and expression, clean with good length. He moved out well, just gets his tail over a little but thatâ€s being picky.
Junior Dog 4 (1 abs)
1. Miller. Miller and Hoare. Glenaffric Hidden Magic.
A very smart brindle who is very short and compact, scores in outline. He has a good neck and shoulder, well ribbed, good topline and good tail carriage. He moves well in profile but just a little loose in front and needs to tighten a little which im sure will happen when he matures a bit more,
2. Tilley's. Fredrick Oriono Kerai
Not quite as short coupled as my winner. I liked his head and expression, long and clean, strong in foreface, nice small ears. He is ok in neck and shoulder, his topline is very good, at the moment needs to have a bit more spring of rib and on the move could just lift his tail a little higher.
Yearling Dog 2
1. Nortons. Divadell Mighty Quinn.
A black dog who presents a nice overall picture standing. short and compact, good in neck and shoulder, his topline is good and tail in correct place. His head is well balanced but could lift his ears more. Moves ok in profile but a little loose in front.
2. Breden, Skudder and Caley's. Honeypaws Mr Sandman.
A wheaten and on the go round is short and compact, but could lift his tail a bit higher. His head is masculine and very typical, nice small ears which were well carried. To be critical he is a little short in length of rib and longer in loin.
Novice Dog 3 (1 abs)
1. H Mr Sandman.
2. Trimscot Idris Elba.
Post Graduate Dog 8 (3 abs)
1. Redferns, Eimahans Last Jedi.
Black dog of a nice size, he is short and compact, ok in head and expression, well carried small ears. ok in neck and shoulder. He is a sound mover but could just put a little more effort into it.
2. Jenkins. Skircoat Scarpia.
A slightly bigger brindle dog, who scores in profile and really moves out and quite sound. Excellent coat which was well presented, ok in head and expression,
3. Petmon Royal Ruffian.
Limit Dog 6 (2 abs)
For a limit class this was quite challenging.
1. Broomes. Evingbriar War of the Roses
This dog won this class on his best outline, but for me just a little too heavy in type. Good length of head, very masculine, well placed ears He is short and compact. Best topline and tail in the class for me. Excellent coat and presentation.
2. Kenny-Marriott & Marriott. Millingford Blue Thunder.
Very nice black dog. Verry good in head being long and clean and nice pair of ears which are well set. Righty amount of neck, with good shoulders. Good bone and feet. Low to ground and well ribbed, topline not as good as my winner. Moved out quite soundly.
3. Nixons. Tout Nouveau Tout Beau Do Clan Des Petits Colonel Karmaristol. JW ShCEx
Open Dog 7 - A super class.
1. Dixons. Ch Chatterdale Star Eclipse
I was taken with him as soon as l saw him. Stands out for true Scottie type. Short and compact, deep body, excellent topline and tail. Really excells in head and expression, long and clean in back skul, smallest of ears, true in expression, strong in muzzle. Really good in front and with strong bone. On the move he is sound and carries him self so well. Presented in tip top order. Well deserving on the CC.
2. Planes. Ch Stuane Craftsman.
A much younger dog than my winner and at 20 mths is still quite young. But itâ€s easy to see how he is made up as young as he is as there is a lot to like about him. Again short and compact, well ribbed, good in neck and shoulder, firm in topline. He has a quality head and expression. Again nice small ears which are well set. But against the winner his lack of maturity did show as you would expect of a still relatively young dog. I will be very interested to see him next year when he has matured. Res cc.
3. Ashworths. Russalan Crimson Coburn For Naviba.
SP Triers Bitch 7 (2 abs)
1. Greenwoods Petmon Royal Gift. JW
A black bitch for I felt stood out here for her overall type and balance. Good in neck and shoulder, firm in topline. Tail carried the right place. Her head is feminine and balanced with a nice dark eye giving that true Scottie expression, never stopped using her nice small ears too. Her black coat really nicely presented and on the move carried herself so well and was nicely handled too.
2. Cottons. Celmereva Tale As Old As Time.
Still a puppy and so not as mature as my winner but having said that There was lots to like about her, similar in size to my winner, not as good in neck and shoulder as my winner but l like her head expression, very feminine in expression, she has a super coat which was really nicely presented.,
3. Englands. Kenzduo Endless Shadows.
Min Puppy Bitch 0
Puppy Bitch 3
1. Chapmans. Berrybreeze Burnt Toast.
Brindle bitch a little on the larger size for me but having said she is well balance, really nice in head and expression, clean in backskull, strong in muzzle and with nice ears. She is sound coming and going and really nicely presented.
2. Celmereva Tale As Old As Time
3. Nixons. Karmaristol Ice Ice baby.
Junior Bitch 4 (1 abs)
1. Coleys. Kingsview just Elizabeth.
A black of lovely type, super outline. Excellent in topline and well carried tail. Really liked her head and expression. She scores in neck and shoulder, excellent hard coat and so well presented. Really moves out well in profile. I think we will hear more about her in the coming months.
2. Maidments. Berrybreeze She's The One
Also black and a lot to like about her. Similar in size to my winner but not quite as good in neck and shoulder. Again the head type l really like, long and clean, deep set eyes, small neat ears, strong muzzle. She also has a super textured coat and well presented, sound coming and going.
3. Karmaristol Ice Ice Baby.
Yearling Bitch (2)
1. Rutherfords. Carisco Winter Solstice.
A very sound moving black bitch who is short and compact. Scores in head and expression. Right amount of neck with good shoulders, well ribbed and low to ground. Very good coat texture and nicely presented. Moves well in profile and holding her nice outline.
2. Nortons. Divadell Harleyquinn.
This bitch was a little more refined than my winner. Her head is well balanced, nice dark eye but not quite as good as my winner in her ear set. She has a good reach of neck, shoulders could be a little better, her topline is level and firm, but she is a little longer cast than my winner. her coat is a good texture and was well presented. Not quite as settled on the move as my winner on the day.
Novice Bitch 4 (1 abs)
1. Englands. Kenzduo Endless Shadows.
A very raw type of bitch and l was told she was not long after a litter and so needs time to get back into coat. She is a little longer cast than l would like. She has an excellent hard coat. Feminine in head and expression and was well handled by her young owner.
2. Wilsons. Charlilymae Funshine Jovi of Bonnyness.
For me a little on the big side, but having said that l did like her head and expression, well set ears. She has a good reach of neck with well laid shoulders, excellent topline and with excellent hard textured coat.
3. Duckhouses. Trimscot Hollyhock
Post Graduate Bitch 8 (3 abs)
1. Becktons Glengracie She Will Rock You
Nice to see a good wheaten and my how this colour has come on since they were introduced. She is of a nice size, short and compact, nice deep body, good in neck and shoulder. Typical in head and expression, really good in front and is sound coming and going and very free in profile covering the ground.
2. Wilson, Wilson and Dixons. Chatterdale Clear Star.
A very nice black and slightly bigger than my winner but looked so good. She has a super coat and in excellent condition. Similar in head type to 1. Her topline is level and firm and is deep in body. For me she could be a touch short coupled and on the move could lift her tail a little more.
3. Petmon Royal Gift. JW
Limit Bitch 8 (3 abs)
1. Kenny Marriott and Marriotts. Millingford Out of The Blue
A very nice feminine black bitch, not big but so feminine with a super outline, Loved her head and expression, she is short and compact, deep well ribbed body, excellent topline, sound coming and going and in profile really makes the most of herself moving in profile. Her coat was in immaculate condition and she looked so well. Seriously considered her for the res cc, tough decision!
2. Knight and Poolton's. Russalan Martha Rosa. JW
A slightly bigger bitch than 1 but still ok for size and really looked very good. She was also in great coat and condition, similar in head type to my winner, good in reach of neck and well laid shoulders, firm in topline and deep in body and well ribbed. To be critical she could be slightly shorter coupled, standing she presents a nice picture but when moving in profile could lift her tail a little more.
3. Mahmoudi's. Stellanera High Society.
Open Bitch 6
1. Dixons. Ch Chatterdale Catch A Star.
Loved her as soon as she came in. She was just what I was looking for. Short and compact, super outline, good neck and shoulder, excellent topline and correct tail set. Her head is devine, long clean, deep set eye giving that true scottie expression, small neat ears. She was presented to perfection, she is sound coming and going and carries herself so well in profile. She looked a picture on the day and l could have looked at her all day. If anyone wants to know what a true scottie should look like, then look at her, you wont go wrong !! CC and BIS.
2. Planes. Ch Stuane Special Surprise.
I see she is litter sister to my res dog cc winner and really a lot of remarks could be applied the same as him,
20 mths old and giving a lot away with age, but no denying her overall quality. You couldnt mistake her for a dog as she's so feminine lovely outline again, good in neck and shoulder excellent topline, short and compact. Well presented as we have come to expect from this owner. Again hope to see her when she has matured. Res CC
3. Bradleys. Ch Brueik Olivia’s Star Maker.
Veteran Bitch 8
1. Maidment's. Quaint Sabayon (imp Fin)
A seven year old black bitch and looking so good. Very much the type l was looking for, short compact, deep in body, firm level topline, moves so well and was in sparkling order. Congratulations for her excellent condition.
2. Knight and Poolton's. Orroscot Mod De Baliol with Russalan
Another black with the most lovely head and expression, nice small ears. good front with good bone. good reach of neck, excellent topline not quite as short coupled as my winner. Again looking so well and obviously well cared for.
3. Broome's. Liroda Midnight Kiss at Evingbriar VW
Geoff Corish.
